Folks age 55+ can volunteer and earn a tax-free stipend that doesn't affect Social Security benefits, housing subsidies or any other assistance. We will find a friendly, enjoyable classroom or childcare center and grateful teacher where you can work with the children who need extra help. Do you enjoy encouraging children, holding infants, tutoring students or playing with toddlers? Many children can be identified very early in life as at risk of heading down the path toward dropping-out. Some of them just need to get caught up with their peers in early language development, thinking skills, behavioral skills or reading. You can help make the difference for them. Do something important for your community and this federal program can help you make ends meet. You also get mileage reimbursements, a meal at the school, training and social and community connections. Teachers LOVE Foster Grandparents. And it isn't a job – your time is flexible, and you choose the age children you enjoy the most. Join many others having fun, enjoying children's delightful perspectives, and do something that many say is "the best thing I've ever done."
